Conference Leadership

Khadijah has been planning, coordinating and implementing festivals, conferences and large-scale events since 2000. Some recent events include:



2017 and 2018 GRIND Conference presented by the Morgan State University Graduate Student Association

Khadijah served as the Conference Communications Manager for the GRIND conference in 2017. In 2018, she coordinated the conference and served as conference committee chair. She created the logo above and all marketing materials for the conference in 2017 and 2018.

2016 Mid-Atlantic College Media Arts & Communication Conference

Khadijah created this conference that took place at Prince George's Community College in 2016. The inaugural Mid-Atlantic College Media Arts and Communication Conference (#MACMACCon16) took place on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 on the campus of Prince George's Community College (PGCC). The conference was intended to introduce college students to media professionals in the areas of Journalism, Broadcast Media, Digital Storytelling,  Public Relations, Graphic Design, and Music Licensing. Khadijah coordinated the conference, created all conference materials and was awarded an Impact Grant to support it. Visit for more info.

2015 University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) McNair Scholars Program Undergraduate Research Conference

Khadijah served as conference coordinator of this conference in September 2015. She was responsible for receiving conference abstracts, creating conference schedules, corresponding with over 100 participating universities and colleges, and attending overall conference logistics.

As an early adopter of digital tools as a companion to print media, Khadijah often used video excerpts as introductions to written content produced for, and for media sources who paid for footage. Below are pieces created using smartphones, DSLRs and various shoulder mount camera models.

2017 Produced, directed and edited video for Kickstarter campaign for award-winning author, Sasha Alston for her book Sasha Tech-Savvy Loves to Code. Campaign garnered over $10000 over the initial goal and media placement in major news outlets.

Justice or Else Rally 10.10.15 in Washington DC

Independent footage documenting the 2015 Justice or Else Rally held in Washington DC on October 10, led by Minister Louis Farrakhan of the NOI.

Khadijah produced this piece for a media client who wanted footage from the event. The footage was shot with a Canon 7D and 60D DSLR and edited with Sony Vegas Premium editing software, and Adobe software.

NVCC Catalog

In 2013, Khadijah's tagline slogan for the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) Workforce Development Catalog,  "Building Skills, Creating Success" was selected to be used on the cover of the catalog and continues to be used today, with a circulation of over 50,000 quarterly.

The Creative Midwife™ Animation

Khadijah created the logo animation for The Creative Midwife™ brand seen in the opening of this audio clip. She also produced the video as part of the branding campaign for The Creative Midwife brand.

 #MACMACCon16 Promotion

Promotional campaign for the 2016 Mid-Atlantic College Media Arts and Communication Conference (#MACMACCon16) included a strong social media component using the hashtag as a way for presenters and participants to connect online

The logo for the Capital Hip Hop Soul Festival

This logo was created by graphic artist Ben Dawson, Jr. under the creative direction of Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman, serving as Creative Director and Operations Manager of the festival. This logo was used on festival literature, t-shirts, banners and corresponding merchandise.

Naming the company in 2008, Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman (pictured) has led all branding efforts of Liberated Muse as Creative Director, including use of the name on t-shirts, books, and promotional materials.

Ignite the Flight fundraising campaign for the organization One Common Unity, Inc.

As interim Executive Director of the nonprofit organization One Common Unity, Inc., Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman branded a fundraising campaign to raise a targeted amount of money in a short period of time.
