What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning "universal," and "Ki," meaning "life force energy." Therefore, Reiki can be understood as "universal life force energy."

Reiki practitioners believe that this universal life force energy flows through all living things and is vital to well-being. When this energy is blocked or low, it can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances. The goal of Reiki is to restore the flow of energy, promoting healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki is used for a variety of purposes, including stress reduction, relaxation, pain relief, and promoting overall well-being. It is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments. While scientific evidence on Reiki's efficacy is limited, many people find it beneficial for managing stress, anxiety, and other conditions.

About Dr. Khadijah's Reiki Training

Reiki practice is guided by five principles, which are intended to help individuals live more mindfully and harmoniously:

Just for today, do not be angry.
Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, be grateful.
Just for today, work hard.
Just for today, be kind to others.

These principles encourage a positive and balanced approach to life, aligning with the healing intentions of Reiki. Dr. Khadijah is certified in Usui Holy Fire Reiki as a Master Teacher. Usui Holy Fire Reiki is a modern evolution of the traditional Usui Reiki system, incorporating the Holy Fire energy. It was developed by William Lee Rand, a prominent Reiki Master and founder of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT), in 2014. Holy Fire Reiki is considered a powerful and refined form of Reiki that builds on the foundation of Usui Reiki while introducing new techniques and energies. Usui Holy Fire Reiki maintains the traditional teachings and principles of Usui Reiki but incorporates the Holy Fire energy, which practitioners believe enhances the effectiveness of healing. It honors the lineage of Mikao Usui, the founder of the original Reiki system.

Khadijah sought Reiki training in 2018 when learning about the stress relief properities of Reiki as a healing modality. In the midst of her dissertation defense preparation while homeschooling her daughter, leading her arts company, Liberated Muse and teaching college, she was knee deep in stressful activity. Reiki taught her meaningful ways to manage her own stress and to help others.
