Hands-On Humanities @ Coppin State University
In February 2025, Dr. Ali-Coleman created a public humanities program for middle schoolers, “Hands On Humanities," through the Humanities department at Coppin State University, where she serves as an associate professor. The program introduces youth to the campus and engages them in a presentation that explains what the humanities are and careers in the humanities. The first presentation took place on February 26, 2025, and was presented in partnership with the nonprofit Black Writers for Peace and Social Justice, Inc.
In October 2025, Dr. Ali-Coleman worked as a part of Coppin State University's American Education Week committee and produced the “Hands On Humanities” presentation again for 50 Baltimore City middle schoolers in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools. The presentation was a collaboration between the Humanities program and the Athletics Department with support from the Title XI office.
